In the owner's words
17 The Digey is an incredible example of a character fisherman’s cottage, typical of this unique position in the heart of St Ives. The property affords a wealth of period features, such as the ships timbers incorporated into the fireplace and beams, exposed stone sections and the pilchard smoking boxes inset in the walls. It really is wonderful to see such original features preserved and presented in such a manner.

The secluded private position is a tranquil semi-rural oasis, a quite remarkable feat when located in Carbis Bay and just moments from the bustling St. Ives. The home has the enviable position of being within walking distance of the amenities of Carbis Bay and within a stone’s throw of the beach and St. Ives yet feeling entirely rural. This is truly a unique offering in one of the most desirable locations in Cornwall. Carbis Bay is a popular village situated overlooking the sparkling waters of St Ives Bay. It has a range of local amenities including shops, church and primary school and with a supermarket within walking distance of the property. St Ives is the nearest town at around a mile away and offers additional facilities including a secondary school. Within walking distance is Carbis Bay train station, a stop along a picturesque branch railway that connects Carbis Bay with St Ives (3 minutes) and the main line at St Erth (9 minutes). The A30 is 3 miles distant and connects with many of the main Cornish towns and the M5 at Exeter. Carbis Bay Beach is easily accessed on foot and comprises a large stretch of golden sand running from Porthminster Point to Hawke's Point. The coastal footpath offers views of some of the finest scenery in the country, as do the walks across the Penwith Moors. Wander through the cobbled streets lined with fisherman’s cottages, independent shops and galleries, relax by the harbour, or surf from the beach. St. Ives offers the quintessential Cornish lifestyle. St Ives is a much-loved town where narrow streets radiating out from the harbour are lined with old stone cottages and an excellent selection of shops and restaurants. Walks abound in the area, across the Penwith Moors and along the coastal footpath where the scenery is among the best in the country. There are glorious sandy beaches to either side of the town and golf at the West Cornwall (3 miles).

Above: Little Carnmenellis
The property lies on the south-eastern slopes of Carnmenellis, one of the great hills running down the spine of Cornwall. The landscape is wild and romantic with scattered small cottages and farms with fields enclosed by stone hedges made from granite moorland boulders. Sitting approximately 40m below the summit, the house enjoys a delightful rural position with far-reaching views across many miles of open countryside. The location is most attractive although not remote with other properties in the general area. Local amenities will be found at Stithians while a number of towns are within easy reach including Truro (13 miles), Falmouth, (9 miles) and Helston, (7 miles). All offer a good range of shopping facilities. A mile or so to the east is Stithians Reservoir, a body of water covering around 275 acres and offering a ranger of leisure pursuits including fishing, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing. But it is perhaps for bird watching that the reservoir is best known with a wide resident population supplemented by migrants. Also readily accessible is the north coastline which offers a choice of sandy beaches.
