With a Help to Buy: Equity Loan in London the government lends you up to 40% of the cost of your newly built home, so you’ll only need a 5% cash deposit and a 55% mortgage to make up the rest. You won’t be charged loan fees on the 40% loan for the first five years of owning your home. Who is eligible? To qualify, the home you want to buy must: • Be newly built, (from a help to buy registered developer) • Maximum purchase price of £600,000 • Must not be a second home • Cannot be rented out The scheme is open to both first-time buyers and home movers provided you buy a new-build property and your mortgage must be taken out on a capital and interest repayment basis.
