Pioneering Education for Boys to Standards of Attainment Unprecedented in Publicly Funded Schools
As a Free School, The Fulham Boys School is a non-profit-making, non-selective independent state school with control over its curriculum and standards.
The FBS Standards of Excellence
Founded in September 2014, the ambition of The Fulham Boys School is to pioneer standards of excellence in publicly funded education for boys and to become one of the best schools in the country, state or private. We aim to do this by delivering an outstanding comprehensive education through the FBS Standards of Excellence. These are:
A brand new, purpose built school building in the heart of Fulham with state of the art facilities and educational resources. The recruitment and retention of outstanding and inspirational teachers through career progression and above average salaries Upholding exceptional standards of behaviour Smaller class sizes with an average of no more than 24 boys in a class An extended school day from 8.30am – 5pm An extensive free co-curricular programme A comprehensive enterprise programme Google affiliation with a Chromebook for every boy

The FBS Values
FBS is built on three pillars: The Christian Faith, Boys and Enterprise. These provide the very foundations for the school’s distinctive ethos and Standards of Excellence: Alongside our academic, cultural, arts and sporting curriculum we offer a comprehensive personal, social and business enterprise programme to enable our boys to reach their personal potential as citizens and in their future careers. We believe boys generally access education and learning differently from girls. FBS education is solely focused on the psychology and activation of education for boys to enable our boys to reach their full academic, physical, social and sporting potential. The Fulham Boys School is built on the Christian faith and exposes all boys to the claims and teachings of Jesus Christ. Boys of all faith and no faith are welcome to attend but must engage with Christian Values and engage respectfully with the school’s Christian and inclusive ethos. Every member of our diverse school community needs to know that they are valued, respected and loved.

The Benefits of Co-Curricular and Enterprise at The Fulham Boys School

Enterprise at FBS
What is Enterprise?
We believe boys should be given the opportunity to pursue their interests and develop their talents outside of the core national curriculum. At FBS, we are therefore proud to offer an extensive range of co-curricular vocational, academic, sports, arts and cultural clubs. These clubs are facilitated through our extended school day and are an integral part of FBS life.
Enterprise is one of the core pillars that underpin all that we are at FBS. As a school we aim to develop the whole boy and see the challenge of becoming more enterprising as an excellent way of joining up areas of learning.
To ensure our boys achieve their full potential in life as 21st century citizens we coach them in six enterprise skills which they are expected to apply to every endeavour:
Personal Enterprise We encourage our boys to think about how they live and the choices they make in order to develop positive personal enterprise attitudes in their everyday life. Social Enterprise At FBS we believe our boys should be the driving force behind local, national and global change. We encourage our boys to have a voice, fundraise, create positive change and give back at every level of society. Business Enterprise Business enterprise prepares our boys for a fulfilling, successful and financially secure life after education by giving them the opportunity to explore their potential in terms of higher education, career and business opportunities without frontiers.

There is also time allocated in the Co-Curricular timetable for ‘own-work’ study periods in place of ‘home-work’ to enable all our boys to complete their extended study in a productive environment independent of home circumstance.
We give students opportunities to be enterprising through taking risks, becoming daring, developing resilience, being team players, and building tenacity.
There are three core themes to enterprise at FBS:
Your Support of The Fulham Boys School
We can only achieve our vision to be one of the best schools in the country, state or private, with additional support. This is the reason why we are asking you to create a legacy to serve current and future generations of FBS boys.
Donations and Sponsorship:
The government provides funding of around £6,000 per child per year for a standard secondary education. The FBS Standards Of Excellence cost a further £1,000 per boy per year, which collectively amounts to an extra £800,000 for our 800 boys on an annual basis. We therefore rely on additional funds from our generous supporters to deliver the FBS Standards Of Excellence for all our boys. In the 2020 academic year, after 6 years on our temporary site, The Fulham Boys School will move to our permanent home which is a £20m state of the art new campus in the heart of Fulham with outstanding facilities for the benefit of our boys and local community. The new site brings exceptional costs for the 2020 academic year to equip the building to FBS Standards of Excellence. In the 2020 academic year we are also seeking to establish a benevolence fund to assist FBS boys and their families experiencing exceptionally difficult circumstances.
Enterprise Volunteering:
In addition to financial support, our outstanding FBS Enterprise Programme is made possible by the opportunities created for the boys of FBS by individuals, community groups, charities and businesses within the school, community and work places. We are very proud of the mutual benefit these programmes generate by way of the creation of both experience for our boys but also the valuable contribution they have made to community groups, charities and businesses in realising their social goals and meeting their Corporate Social Responsibility objectives.
